College Recruiting
We will be hosting a Collegiate Coaching Camp open to ALL players regardless of club affiliation. This event will take place on June 9-10, 2018 for the class of 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.
We recognizes that many of our athletes would like to extend their volleyball career beyond high school and junior club volleyball and into college. We take great pride in helping our players achieve those goals. Refer to our College Bound page to see the college commitments of our athletes, past and present.
College coaches begin their search for their prospects as early as a player’s freshman year. SandLegs players receive this critical exposure due to the history of success from our teams, coaches and individual players at both the regional and national levels. We frequently welcome and host a number of collegiate coaches who will often request to attend our teams' practices and training sessions each year.
No junior’s club program is complete without informing both players and parents about the important topic of college recruiting.
How We Can Help
Recruiting Workshops
We offer FREE Recruiting Workshops for both SandLegs players and parents throughout the season that cover the following:
Fact vs. Fiction; NCAA/NAIA; DI, II, III
Recruiting and Academic Timeline
Scholarships
Rules and Regulations of College Recruiting
Effective Communication with Colleges
Various Methods to Creating an Effective Recruiting Video
Recruiting Profiles and How to make them Appealing to College Coaches
Comparison Databases and Organization
Q&A Session
We recommend the recruiting workshops for all of our athletes regardless of the sport they may pursue in college. In addition to the workshop, our recruiting coordinator is available to work with individuals throughout the season for help and instruction.
College Recruiting Relationships
Our College Recruiting Coordinator and the rest of the staff have developed close relationships with numerous college coaches throughout the years, which gives us insight into the type of players they typically recruit and what their program is looking for in prospective athletes. We have found that this insight gives our players competitive advantages in getting recruited.
Player Profile Pages
We provide the option of having online profile pages containing information about each player such as awards, accomplishments, playing experience, vertical jump, a personal section, video links, and the athlete's plans for her athletic career. The profile page will be posted on our website enabling each player to send it to the college coaches of their choice via email or by letter.
Additional Information
SandLegs does not make any guarantees to players about earning full scholarships or being accepted to the top school of their choice. We simply offer all of our players the opportunity to train, compete and high level of exposure necessary in the steps toward being recruited.
College Costs
According to the The College Board, Annual Survey of Colleges, the total national average costs for four-year colleges in the year 2013-2014 for tuition, fees, room and board was the following (approximate): $19,000 (public in-state), $32,000 (public out-of-state), and $41,000 (private). In the state of California, the average cost in 2013-2014 for a California resident at a UC school was approximately $32,000.
